Just couple of days ago I wrote here about our thwarted plans for the International Education Week. We just cannot travel with the flood and the latest flu scare,so we have to remain in the base. You can freely come to the office –we are seriously taking the protection measures in this period. For those of you who are still reluctant to come,we will have online sessions,on Skype, chat,Gmail…and we’ll test some new features. Read more about it tomorrow during the day,or just call us to see how we can help you during the International Education Week.
You probably know by now we are constantly thinking about the future and trying to make it better. Our organization considers that kind of thinking very important for prospective students abroad. This International Education Week that is about to start tomorrow will not be fruitless at all. The Council of International Schools Forum, taking place in Munich,Germany,is the perfect place to share our view of recruiting students from Eastern Europe and our executive director Elizabeth Chung is already there.
You may probably ask why would any session like this be important for you. We have had many successes assisting prospective students in the past several years, but there comes a time when you need to grow. It is time to put Serbia back on the map and organize events that would serve the academic community the best way possible. In that light,we will organize the College Fair in Belgrade, where the representatives of many institutions will come and present their offers to you and answer your questions.
Those of you who dropped by the office in the past month asking for the visit of college representatives, something we have been organizing last couple of years, were the first to hear about this. It is a shame most of the current applicants could not be attending this event as they would already be studying in the US,but there are others who will benefit from it.
Imagine this –one wide space with about 20,30 or even more institutions represented. Imagine yourself going around, asking questions in detail, getting the answers first hand. Sounds pretty good, right? Most of those representatives already know somebody from Serbia studying at their or some other academic institution,so they know who they are facing. They know you have brains, but not always enough money to support your education.
Our efforts to put Serbia back on the map for college recruiters do not stop there. More activities are to follow, but they all start with this week, this international Forum in Munich. All those representatives present at the conference will hear about our successes and surely some of them would like to come to the College Fair, send us material or simply cooperate with us more to recruit students. Out of several hundred institutions present at the conference,we are interested in at least 50. You will see the report about the conference this week.
I mentioned future and I will do it one more time. In the end, many of you educating abroad will come back to Serbia and share the knowledge with the rest of us,making the future better. You may not believe it,but the combination of domestic and foreign education can really impact our lives.
