November and December are the most critical months in our academic calendar. Whatever we do,it always seems like it’s not enough. Advising, classes, exams, assistance –we must not neglect a single part of the complicated puzzle. It gets even more complicated since many of the candidates for studying abroad come to us at the very last minute.
This year, however,we do have tight and precise calendar that is supposed to help us organize better. Our calendar may not look busy to you,but there are many events opened only for those who are deep into the process of applying for colleges and universities. For those of you in the need of quick advising and verification of your academic chances, events will be announced a week or two ahead,or you will be called to participate. Pay attention to the “Open House”events, organized to assist you with different application and preparing issues.
Several years ago, when we just started this project, our first thought was that the initial advising may be organized individually. The free group advising had to be organized very soon after that first idea, simply because of the huge interest in the US education. The same thing happens this year with our rules and regulations –it takes a lot of our time and effort to explain those over and over to everyone. You will be able to find our first version of standardized rules and regulations concerning office procedures online as of tomorrow.
Why did we make those rules and regulations? For starters, some people did not really understand how we operate. There’s just several of us,working on many projects at the same time, and every moment of repeating the same story over and over takes our precious time. Many of our services are free and offered under strict schedule and we would like to really push this issue ahead. Our members and people who called ahead will have advantage over people who just storm in the office, demanding service.
The rules and regulations document will explain what to expect when you send an e-mail,post to the forum,or comment on the blog post. You will also be advised how to approach your further moves based on your current situation. This document is just the first version on “how-to”that is going to assist you in dealing with the resources available online when you can’t reach us on the phone and are in the need of the quick information.
The next document in line, following the rules and regulations,is the one regarding the full range of our services, described in details. You can call it a price list, but many of our services are free! This document will be published Monday or Tuesday and hopefully give better insight into all the assistance you will get upon becoming our member. So far,we had this information scattered around the web presentation and the office itself. The time has come to get this issue in order.
These two documents and many others coming soon will be located at our Site and the Board. You will see the link from the “Resources”page and the Board’s top area –“IAC Belgrade”.
This is not the only area we’re about to change. Many more announcements are to follow in the months to come –read all about them here. Your comments and opinions mean a lot to us –please contact us if you have something to say.
