It was a long and dry period for our mailing list function. There was hardly any regular e-mail being sent to all of our subscribers – we just concentrated on the most important messages.
Our previous solutions were not as good as we thought. Too many messages bounced back, while way too many arrived into the spam folders of different providers. Individual mailing was out of the question, so we just created small groups of people. Yes, we know that too many things were lost that way.
We are now back in business with a better solution – Google groups, coming in package with our e-mail system. Those of you who know the Groups system and who participated in some of them will grasp the system faster. Basically, the groups for informing people about certain aspects of our work will be closed for joining and only administrators will be able to send messages. Those messages will then reach you and you will decide what to do. At any point in time you will be able to automatically leave the group and receive no more information.
The closed groups will be used to inform people about certain exams or our activities. You will not be able to post to those groups. However, there will be several general groups completely opened for users to join in and post as they like.
The first mailing lists we are opening are to inform you about SAT and TOEFL exams and preparation cycles at the International Academic Center. Also, we are opening the list for GRE and GMAT exams, and one General Discussion Group. If you want to join any of these before the official announcement, feel free to send us an e-mail to joingroups@iacbg.org.
